Amanda Kloots is calling out President Donald Trump’s “disgraceful” response since being diagnosed with COVID-19.
Kloots, 38, whose husband Nick Cordero died from coronavirus complications on July 5, shared a post in reaction to Trump’s most recent tweet.
“I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6.30 pm. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of COVID. Don’t let it dominate your life,” Trump tweeted today. “We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!”
Kloots reacted to Trump’s assertion that the people of America shouldn’t be “afraid” in a heartfelt plea.
“To all the over 208,000 Americans who lost loved ones to this virus — I stand by you, with you, holding your hand,” Kloots began in an Instagram post.

“Unfortunately it did dominate our lives didn’t it? It dominated Nick’s family’s lives and my family’s lives. I guess we “let it” — like it was our choice?? Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to spend two days in the hospital. I cried next to my husband for 95 days watching what COVID did to the person I love. It IS something to be afraid of.”
Kloots slammed Trump for lacking any empathy for those who have lost their lives.
She added, “He is bragging instead. It is sad. It is hurtful. It is disgraceful.”

Kloots also posted a series of Instagram Stories, where she broke down in tears over the many people who didn’t get so lucky after testing positive.
“I’m honestly frozen. I couldn’t believe what I read,” Kloots said. “Not everyone is lucky enough to walk out of the hospital after two days. So we saw what this disease can do. So guess what, we are afraid. I still am.”
She added, “No one is letting it dominate their life. Nick didn’t let it. It wasn’t a choice. It dominated our lives for 95 days. It’s beyond hurtful. Have some empathy.”
Cordero had been in the intensive care unit for more than 90 days and suffered numerous setbacks, including a leg amputation and being put on a temporary pacemaker.
Cordero is survived by Kloots and their one-year-old son Elvis Eduardo. They married in September 2017.
A crowdfunding page titled Support Amanda Kloots, Nick Cordero & Elvis was created to assist and raise funds for Cordero’s medical bills.
