Sia has revealed the reason behind her decision to adopt her sons –– reality TV!
Last year, the singer adopted two 18-year-old boys, seemingly out of the blue, but she hasn’t publicly shared much information about them.
In an interview for Vogue Australia‘s November issue, Sia spoke a bit more about how it all happened.
“I am obsessed with reality television and documentaries, and I watched a documentary and saw my son,” Sia told Vogue. “I was like: ‘What? Like, he doesn’t have anybody. Oh my god. I’m going to find him and I’m going to be his mummy.’ And so that’s what I did.” She tracked him down and adopted both him and his friend.
She previously told Zane Lowe that the two boys had been housed in “18 different locations in their 18 years” before she took them in.
The ‘Chandelier’ singer described motherhood to Vogue as “the best thing I’ve ever done”, and is considering being a foster parent in the future.
“It’s one of the hardest, but I have obviously such an overflow of love that I could definitely see myself doing it again, but not for a while. The next thing I’m planning to do is foster actual infants.”
“Maybe [their mother] is drug-addicted and then I could help look after them until, you know, their mum can get back on the wagon or an adoptive home is found. If I can do that then I think I’ll feel like I’m superhuman.”
Just a few months ago, Sia also revealed that not only is she a mum — she’s also a grandma!
“My youngest son just had two babies. I’m a f—ing grandma!” the 44-year-old told Zane Lowe in an interview. “I know, right? They call me ‘Nana.'”
She said she’s trying to get her grandkids to call her ‘Lovey’ instead — the same affectionate term the Kardashian grandkids call Kris Jenner, who is Sia’s good friend.
