This interview contains a spoiler for The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Victoria Pedretti hasn’t been acting professionally for as long as some of her The Haunting of Bly Manor co-stars, but the 25-year-old actress is certainly making waves in Hollywood.
Pedretti first caught the attention of fans when she appeared in the first season of the Haunting anthology series: 2018’s The Haunting of Hill House.
She then went on to star as Love in Season 2 of You, opposite Penn Badgley, and had her first major big-screen part playing Lulu in Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Now, she’s come full circle with her return for The Haunting of Bly Manor — out now on Netflix — where she’s playing a totally different character.
“I just knew a bunch of people there,” she tells 9Honey Celebrity of her return to set. “It was great.”

As for how her approach to work has changed in the years between the two seasons, Pedretti says she’s grown a lot.
“Just becoming more aware of how everything works so that I’m able to kind of develop a rhythm, a process,” she explains. “I mean, that’s always going to change from production to production, but I have more of a sense of what I need to even take care of myself in order to do the work.
“I know to work more efficiently and… how to interact with lights, boom, camera. There’s a lot of things that are happening at once, and it takes a lifetime to get acclimated to those things. There’s always more and more to learn. I feel like the more you know about those things, the more you can work more intuitively and with more ease. So, I just hope I keep getting opportunities to get on set and do that.”
Pedretti takes on the role of Dani Clayton in the supernatural horror series. The owner of the manor, Henry Wingrave (played by Henry Thomas), hires Dani as the new au pair of his niece and nephew Flora (Amelie Bea Smith) and Miles (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth).
While the show is a horror, it also becomes a romance later in the season. Dani meets Jamie (Amelia Eve) at Bly Manor, and their romance is explored midway through the series.
“It was great working with Amelia, we got along really well,” she says. “She definitely felt like a great partner in that story we had to tell. I really miss her. I need to text her back! We have a lot of fun together. It was really great.
“Telling our love story, it’s kind of this beautiful exception I think in that it’s a sweetening romance, but it doesn’t just bulldoze. They kind of tiptoe into each other’s lives and take everything day by day and slowly build trust and understanding and slowly become vulnerable with each other and I think it’s a healthier relationship that we don’t see represented in film and television very much.
“People assume it’s not exciting. But it is. There’s a deep intensity to it, it was great. It was great working with Amelia.”
As for her other Netflix show, You, Pedretti is thrilled to be returning to set after months in lockdown.
“I’m so excited to go back to work,” she says. “I don’t know what it’s gonna be like. I haven’t heard anything about the conditions of shooting, given the pandemic is still happening. Henry [Thomas] was talking about it, because he’s in production for Midnight Mass, it does make it hard to socialise and play and as I’ve been talking about keeping the importance of a sense of lightness and play.
“I hope that’s not interrupted too much because I really do have a lot of fun with the people on You.”
The Haunting of Bly Manor is now available to stream on Netflix.
